Delivered by LEVA, the globally recognised body for forensic video training and certification, this course teaches an examination process and workflow for interrogating video evidence at the frame level.
You'll learn to read and use the information held in a video file's header and embedded metadata to make accurate observations and calculations. That leads to more thorough, defensible reports and presentations, and gives you findings you can share with other experts who rely on video but aren't trained to examine it, such as accident reconstructionists, use-of-force specialists and biomechanical experts.
A basic understanding of DME (digital multimedia evidence) formats, their associated metadata and DME processing is recommended. LEVA membership is not required.
Ed Baker is a LEVA Certified Forensic Video Analyst and a retired Major Crimes detective with Tacoma Police Department, Washington, where he helped establish the department's Forensic Video Unit. He founded Video Consultants NW LLC and consults on forensic video, image and audio analysis in criminal and civil cases worldwide. Ed has been a LEVA instructor since 2014, teaching image and video processing and comparison analysis across LEVA Levels 1, 2 and 3.
Graduates receive a LEVA certificate of completion for the 24-hour curriculum, and LEVA credits the hours towards LEVA certification renewal. Please note this is a certificate of completion, not a certification.
Registration is handled directly by LEVA. The register button on this page will take you to the LEVA events page, where you can select Advanced Forensic Video Interrogations: An In-Depth Examination of Video Analysis Processes on your preferred date and complete your registration.
